This page has information on awards and recognition a Venturer could achieve as a result of actively participating in the Venture program.

The Congressional Award (external link)

Nearly every service project we do, every event we attend, benefits our nation, our community, ourselves. The Congressional Award recognizes youth who have gone above and beyond their peers in creating a plan, executing the plan, and reflecting on how the execution of that plan has achieved goals that built character and fostered community service, personal development, and citizenship. What you do for the Congressional Award could also count to achieving the GSA Gold Award, the BSA Eagle Award, and the Venture Silver Award. Depends on how you build your plan. Go to the site, download/fill out the forms, and get enrolled ($10 USD) ASAP. You're doing the work anyway. Make the investment so your adult leaders (and parents) can get you the national recognition you deserve.

Venturer or Ranger?

There are 5 possible Bronze awards for a Venturer:
  • Sports
  • Religious Life
  • Arts and Hobbies
  • Sea Scout
  • Outdoor
There are unique requirements for each.
The Outdoor Bronze Award has core requirements and electives.
A Venturer must earn 4 of 8 core requirements and 2 of 18 electives (e.g., Backpacking, Shooting).
To earn the Ranger award, a Venturer must earn ALL 8 core requirements. Thus, Ranger is an advanced Outdoor award.
